Rendered in DAZ Studio 4.6 Pro Postwork in GIMP 2.8

My entry to the Ahsoka Selfie Art Jam hosted by :iconahsoka-fan-club:. All we have to do is make an image of Ahsoka Tano as if it were a selfie taken by her. Of course, me being me, I had to get Barriss Offee in the shot too. :D The idea is that Ahsoka is having trouble with all of the different settings on Barriss' camera. Barriss tries to help Ahsoka when a photo is accidentally snapped. Simple idea, right?

This is a relatively simple image... and not a single minute aspect of this was easy. I've wanted to make a render involving Star Wars characters in every day Earth clothing for some time now. This felt like a good time to give it a shot. Unfortunately, I got this idea in my head to do one of those 'photo of the reflection in a mirror' type of selfies. Don't let your skeptic mind take hold. This is indeed a 3D scene. There is no post work aside from putting my frame and signature on it. Even the flash of the camera is the reflection of a light placed and set in the scene to create that exact effect in the reflection. I put together Barriss and Ahsoka posed in a nicely furnished bedroom with trees and sky outside the windows and everything. Then, I placed all of the appropriate lighting elements, angled the POV so that it was the same as the camera's, and angled how Ahsoka was holding the camera so that she and Barriss would be in the reflection of a mirror they were standing in front of. Yay. I learned how to create a mirror-like reflective surface in Daz Studio. This is literally a render of a mirror. I hate myself for being a slave to my inspirations. This was supposed to be simple speed render slapped together in an hour or so. Ugh. I digress.

Anyways, despite my efforts, the reflection of Barriss and Ahsoka is a bit pixelated. I think that is because the mirror prop is annoyingly low poly. It's either that or Daz simply hates me for trying to replicate the effects of a mirror. Well, let's just say that the camera Ahsoka is using is simply not focused on the reflection. Darn auto-adjust. It only works when you don't need it. Am I right? Yeah, I'm right. Also, I've rambled on long enough. Thank you to the three or so people who might actually read this entire description. Give yourself a pat on the back and a warm cookie for following me this far. I hope you like the render. Cheers. B-)

I love the cloth design and the way the scene is set out, the cameras flashing effect is amazing and also I love the mirror, it makes the set out more interesting. You have a very creative mind and awesome render skills, the face expressions are awesome and like it has been shot right in the middle of the scene giving it that lovely and lively effect
I like the poses and how Barriss is pointing too the camera, I think too show Ahsoka how it works, too the button. Well done and keep up the awesome work!
